Leadwork & Lead Flashing
Lead is where most roofs actually leak — at the joins. We dress, shape and fix lead flashing so water never finds a way in.
Lead does the quiet, vital work on a roof. It's the flashing that seals the gap where your roof meets a wall or chimney, the soakers tucked under each tile, and the lining of a valley. When lead is fitted well it lasts for decades; when it cracks, splits or lifts, water heads straight for the gap.
We fit and replace leadwork across Hampshire and Surrey, from a single chimney flashing to a full lead valley. Lead is a craft — it has to be dressed and folded to the shape of the roof, with the right code of lead for the job. We do it properly so it stays watertight and stands up to the weather.
What We Do
Lead flashing for chimneys, walls and abutments
Where the roof meets a wall or stack, lead flashing is the seal. We fit and renew flashing that's cracked, lifted or past its best.
Stepped flashing and soakers
On pitched roofs against a wall, stepped flashing follows the brick courses while soakers sit under each tile. We fit them so the join never leaks.
Lead valleys
Valleys carry a lot of water. We line and renew lead valleys so they shed it cleanly down to the gutter.
Leadwork on dormers and bay roofs
Dormers and bays have tricky junctions. We dress lead around the corners and edges so water can't gather or seep in.
Replacing cracked, split or stolen lead
Lead cracks with age and, sadly, gets stolen for scrap. We replace damaged or missing lead and secure the new fit.

Questions We Get Asked
Properly fitted lead flashing can last 50 years or more — it's one of the longest-lasting materials on a roof. The key is using the right code (thickness) of lead for the job and dressing it correctly so it can expand and contract with the weather. Cheap, thin or badly fitted lead fails far sooner, which is why we always fit to the standard.
